Before pixels, there were rocks.

I studied Mining Engineering.

I spent a month underground.

  • Gas testing
  • Ventilation
  • Heavy machinery

Textbooks became real.

The terrain changed.

The instinct to investigate didn't.

Now I apply that mindset to digital products.

Present

Today, I design by going deeper into digital products across fintech, commerce and B2B.

I usually work end to end — understanding the problem, mapping the experience, designing the interface, prototyping it, and working with developers through build. I enjoy products where the complexity isn’t always visible on the screen.

Underground Mining Internship

Before I designed digital products, I spent a month learning how complex systems work underground — development and extraction, blasting, gas testing, ventilation, and the machinery that keeps a mine breathing. It was my first real experience of seeing how much complexity exists between a system on paper and the way it actually works in the field.

Portrait of Putta Manikanta
Putta Manikanta

I'm a product designer with four years of experience building software people use to do something real — move money, run a business, buy something, play.

Most of that work has been end to end: understanding the problem, structuring the flow, designing the interface, and staying with it through build. I'm most useful on products with genuine complexity underneath — an operational process, a payment rail, a system with more states than screens. I like taking something tangled and finding the structure that was already in it.

I care about products being honest: telling someone what will happen before it happens, showing a real state instead of a comfortable one, and not spending a person's attention on decoration.
